Girls softball

Farm League:     2nd, 3rd and 4th Graders

Juniors League:   5th and 6th Graders

Seniors League: 7th and 8th Graders

 

This league plays Essex County Women’s Softball League against girls from other towns including Boxford, Middleton, Georgetown, Ipswich, Groveland, Merrimac, W. Newbury, Newbury, Rowley and Salisbury.  There are normally 2 games per week, with home games played on Fridays.   Home games are played at Emerson, Steward, and Klock fields. Coaches typically hold practices once per week.  Full uniforms are provided to each player.  Shirts, pants are returned to the TAA at the end of  the season while caps are kept by the player. 

Farm leagues play with an 11” softball and have restricted rules such as no stealing.  Seniors play with an 12" softball and closely follow high school rules. 

Emphasis in all leagues is on learning skills  and having fun.  Skill development includes: hitting, throwing, catching, fielding, pitching, base running and game situations.

 

Season Dates: Late April – Mid June

Expenditures: uniforms, umpires, league entry fees, and equipment including balls, bats, bases, helmets, and catching gear.
